Alfred Arthur Greenwood “Smiler” Hales worked in Silverton and then Broken Hill for five years, during which he backed the mine workers in their struggle for union representation. * Labor candidate for the upcoming State election, Darriea Turley, has thrown her support behind the push to reopen the Imperial Lakes. * Eight months after the city lost its resident magistrate it has been decided that a new one will not be appointed until the magistrate’s house is repaired. * The Dialysis Unit at Broken Hill Hospital has received an upgrade of technically advanced haemodialysis machines. Seven new Fresenius 5008 haemodialysis machines and dialysis chairs were installed recently in the hospital’s Dialysis Unit.
